Purpose and Philosophy

Covenant Christian School has three primary goals:

  • First, to "proclaim Him, teaching, and admonishing every man with all wisdom that we may present every man complete in Christ." (Colossians 1:28). By this we mean to develop each child's talents and gifts, simultaneously emphasizing the development of Christ-like character.
  • Second, to work in conjunction with parents towards mutual goals in the training and educating of their children. Our desire is to help build strong, Godly families.
  • Third, to equip our students with the academic skills necessary to compete in the secular world.

We feel that these goals will take effect and bear fruit in the children's lives only as parents realize their role as the "teacher" in their children's lives. Dr. James Dobson states that "values are caught, not taught." In other words, children will do what they observe their parents doing, not what their parents tell them to do. Parents must live a consistent, Christ-like life. Such role-modeling will be the best instruction their children will ever receive.

To accomplish the school goals, parents must also covenant with the school to provide areas of ministry the parents cannot. In particular, the school staff will provide academic instruction to the students that many parents do not have the time or resources to provide. This is where the name "Covenant Christian" is derived. Parents and school staff solemnly pledge to each other to work toward common goals and a common vision. This covenant can be costly in terms of time, finances and priorities. However, we believe the lives of our children are worthy of the cost.
